“When the Son of Man comes, it will be like what happened during Noah’s time . . .” – Matthew 24:37-44
“God looked on the earth, and behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way upon the earth. Then God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me; for the earth is filled with violence because of them; and behold, I am about to destroy them with the earth” – Genesis 6:11
Will mankind’s unceasing search to be smarter, faster, more powerful, and immune to disease eventually cause God to once again rain judgment down upon the earth as He did during Noah’s time? Will this search ultimately lead to a human that ain’t quite human and become the “Mark of the Beast”?
Let us examine these possibilities:
For decades, now, TV shows and films have been portraying mankind’s desire to more than human, in short to be trans-human. In the 1970s Six Million Dollar Man made its debut. In 1982 Blade Runner hit the box office. Since then, there has been no shortage of movies and shows that feature enhanced humans: Dollhouse, The Terminator, Spider-Man, Splice, and The Matrix, just to name a few. But the movies pale in comparison to some of the real enhancements that have been introduced in recent years.

According to the WND article, http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=334589, Tom Horn states that “even more sinister genetic tinkering” is taking place behind closed doors. When Obama repealed the Bush era restrictions on human/animal/plant genetic engineering, this process took off at an alarming rate of speed and is now being fast-tracked with billions of dollars by the Pentagon and the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). Horn “suggests people, as we now know them, are in the process of a man-made redesign in order to make them superbeings or even non-human entities . . . . what they may do is lead us literally into the fulfillment of biblical prophecy.”
In the summer of 2008, Representative Brad Sherman chaired a House Foreign Affairs subcommittee focusing on the diplomatic and security implications of the spread of “genetics and other human-modification technologies.”
Additionally, Congress has been discussing topics such as biotech’s potential for creating super soldiers, super intelligence and super animals. It was noted that the convergence of nanotech, biotech, computers and cognitive sciences, along with new applications could “put agents of unprecedented lethal force” in the hands of friendly and enemy sources. Even the topics of genetic discrimination, eugenics, and the civil rights of humans and animals whose bodies and intelligence might be enhanced to the point of inability to tell if such a combination is human, or animal, was broached.
Jesus said: “For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened” – Matthew 24:21-22.
In short, if the transhumanist movement succeeds in transforming humans into something that is posthuman that no longer needs flesh covered bones to survive, then these words of Jesus take on an entirely different meaning. Conclusion:
If Tom Horn, Britt Gillette, and others are correct, then perhaps a human that ain’t quite human, rather than some simple injection of a microchip could, indeed, be the “Mark of the Beast”. Artificial hands, artificial eyes. Artificial brains! Now that would certainly set apart real humans from Beast approved humans, eh?
Scripture tells us that in Noah’s day, the seed of man, animal, and plant had all become corrupt (i.e.: intermingled). Transhumanism and the enhanced human movement seem destined to take us right back to that condition.
Because scripture foretold this would happen and the evidence that it is now taking shape before our very eyes is becoming clearer and clearer, One can only ask: “How close are we to the return of Christ?”
