Israel Update 2012

War continues to impact the Middle East.  Israel, Syria, and Egypt are all in turmoil.  The news so far this month is simply a continuation of the November News.

As expected, the United Nations General Assembly recognized Palestine as a “non-member observer state” within the international community.  This vote, they claim, will lead to a secure and lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians, despite Hillary Clinton’s declaration that the move was “unfortunate and counterproductive,” and John Baird’s “this unilateral step will harden positions and raise unrealistic expectations while doing nothing to improve the lives of the Palestinian people.”

Of particular note to this vote is the response by the Vatican which has renewed claims that Jerusalem should be granted special status and become a protectorate of an international committee, run, of course, by the Vatican itself which will guarantee respect for and freedom of access to its holy places.   After all, the Vatican is also recognized by the UN as a non-member observer state, so who better to understand the needs of Palestine.

Russia also wants to be in control of Israel.  President Vladimir Putin says his country will back Egyptian Pharaoh Mohammed Morsi’s efforts to put an end to Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip and normalize the situation in the Palestinian territory.  Does he not know that Egypt is in the midst of another civilian upheaval right now due to Morsi’s power grab?  Morsi will have enough trouble just controlling his own country, much less the Israelis.

Syria
On December 2, 2012 western intelligence sources were seeing new signs of activity at Syrian chemical weapons sites that some thought indicated that the weapons weren’t just being moved, but put in place to be used. In fact, sources say that the Syrian military has actually loaded the chemicals for sarin into aerial bombs that could be dropped onto the Syrian people from dozens of fighter-bombers. The movement of these chemical weapons prompted the United States and several allies to repeat their warnings to President Bashar al-Assad that he would be “held accountable” if the weapons were used.

The anxiety over the possibility of Bashar al-Assad using chemical weapons prompted the Israeli government to come to the Jordanian government twice with plans to take out many of Syria’s chemical weapons sites. Thus far, the Jordanians have declined to grant such permission.

On December 3, 2012 warplanes and artillery fire blasted Damascus and its suburbs, killing at least fifteen people in Homs in central Syria.  The attacks within Damascus are the most serious attacks in the capital since July.

Next day, December 4, 2012  rebel mortar attacks on a school outside Damascus killed 29 people, and several more over the Lebanon border were killed or wounded by clashes between gunmen loyal to opposing sides in Syria’s civil war.

NATO gave the go-ahead for the deployment of Patriot surface-to-air missiles to protect Turkey’s border with Syria the same day.  At the same time, even more convoys were observed ferrying self-propelled cannons for firing shells loaded with poisonous sarin gas.  Apparently Assad has decided to ignore the warnings given by the US, NATO, and others against using such weapons.  Is he merely taking advantage of the heavy winds, rain, and clouds and counting on the weather to obstruct military operations against his chemical weapons units, or is he suicidal?

The USS Eisenhower Strike Group also reached the Syrian coast on the fourth after sailing through the Suez Canal from the Persian Gulf.   The USS Eisenhower, along with the USS Iwo Jima constitutes over 70 fighter-bombers, 17 warships, 10 destroyers and frigates, a number of Aegis anti-missile weapons, and 10,000 American soldiers.

Iran and Libya
Iran has 170 ballistic missiles aimed at Tel Aviv, some of which are armed with biological warheads, according to a recently defected source who formerly served in Iran’s Intelligence Ministry.  The weapons are stored in  underground silos, and have been prepared for the destruction of Israel as well European capitals.

Contrary to Obama administration claims, top-level al-Qaida operatives appear to be functioning with impunity in Libya.  So much for NATO control, eh?

Conclusion
Gerald Celente) is well known for his financial predictions, but has recently stated that “World War 3 is Coming People . . . We are in End Times. Millions will die, and the Elite will make $ off it and be kicking back on the beach Safe!”   Wars and rumors of wars continue to escalate.

Prophecy continues to unfold as foretold by the Hebrew prophets. The stage is being set. That being said, one can only ask: “How imminent is the return of Yeshua Ha’Mashiach?”
