Leviticus 25:10-13 – “You shall consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim a release through the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you, and each of you shall return to his own property, and each of you shall return to his family. You shall have the fiftieth year as a jubilee; you shall not sow, nor reap its after growth, nor gather in from its untrimmed vines . . . . On this year of jubilee each of you shall return to his own property.”
In the Jubilee Year debts were forgiven, slaves were set free, and land and properties were returned to the original owners. Fields and vineyards were to be left fallow and not sowed. Even normal labors were to cease! In other words, the Jubilee Year was a year of rest for both people and the land.
The Theories So Far
The date of the final Jubilee has been hinted at by several people over the last couple of years. Below are some of the theories:
120 Years And The Millennial Reign
Genesis 6:3 – “And Yahweh said, ‘My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years’.”
The Rabbi’s have linked the 120 years in Genesis 6:3 to Jubilee years and have taught that there will be a total of 120 Jubilee cycles, or 6000, years from the time Yahweh/Yeshua created the heavens and the earth until the beginning of the one-thousand year, or Millennial Reign of Yeshua. According to their calculations, 2017 will be the date of the final, or 120th Jubilee.
Rabbi Judah Ben Samuel — AD 1217
Rabbi Samuel prophesied that the Ottoman Turks would rule over the city of Jerusalem for eight Jubilees or 400 years, beginning in 1517, which he claimed was a Jubilee year. The Turks, did indeed rule over Jerusalem during this period, and were indeed expelled in 1917 by the Allied forces under the command of General George Allenby. Rabbi Samuel also prophesied that during the next 50 years, Jerusalem would be a “no-man’s land”, and in 1967 Jerusalem was indeed restored to Jewish rule and possession by the State of Israel. Add another 50 years, and voila, 2017!
Dan Goodwin And Others
Several people have taken these years, 1917 and 1967, and have proclaimed them to be perfect examples of the restoration that takes place during a jubilee year. So, the thought is, perhaps they really are Jubilee Years. If so, then the next calendar year for a Jubilee will be, of course, 2017!
The Jubilee Rapture
Parallels between the Jubilee events and the events of the Rapture have also been noted:
The Jubilee:
The Jubilee begins with a trumpet sound (Leviticus 25:9)
Every person is returned to their family (Leviticus 25:10)
Each person’s possessions are fully returned (Leviticus 25:13)
The Jubilee is a time of great rest, so much so that no sowing nor reaping is even allowed (Leviticus 25:11)
The Rapture:
The Rapture begins with a trumpet sound (1 Thessalonians 4:16)
Every believer in Yeshua is gathered together with the entire body [family] of Yeshua (1 Thessalonians 4:17)
Every believer’s body is restored to immortality and incorruptibility (1 Corinthians 15:53)
Every believer then rests in Yeshua for all eternity (1 Thessalonians 4:17)
So, the thought is, perhaps the Rapture takes place in the next Jubilee Year – i.e. 2017.
Bill Salus And Psalm 83
Psalm 83:13 – “O my God, make them like the whirling dust, like chaff before the wind.”
Bill Salus has expounded upon the prophetic properties of Psalm 83 written by the seer, Asaph. According to his interpretation, it will be a time when Israel regains a large portion of the land promised to Abraham by Yahweh (Genesis 12, 26, & 35), a time when Israel’s immediately surrounding enemies are defeated, and a time that allows them to dwell safely and securely in the land – a condition that must be fulfilled before the war of Gog and Magog (Ezekiel 38) can occur. Could 2017 be the year that this cleansing and restoration occurs?
Donald Trump And Israel
Donald Trump has clearly stated his love for Israel and the Israeli people. He has even declared: “We will move the American Embassy to the eternal capital of the Jewish people, Jerusalem!” and has his vowed to veto any attempt to impose a settlement on the Israeli government. The Israeli Sanhedrin has even called on Trump and Putin to “join forces and fulfill their biblically mandated roles by rebuilding the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem.” What if Trump is one of Yahweh’s instruments to fund and/or empower the Israeli’s to defeat their surrounding enemies and rebuild the Temple, both conditions that must be accomplished according to scripture? Could 2017 be the year that Yahweh uses Trump to begin or even fully achieve the restoration of Israel’s land?
Conclusions
The date of the final Jubilee has been discussed by many, but we all know about setting dates! Could the Rapture happen on Yom Teruah 2017? It is certainly possible. Could the year 2017 be the year that Israel regains major portions of the land promised to Abraham? Again, it is certainly possible. Could 2017 be the year that the Millennial Reign of Yeshua begins? Not even remotely possible!
Final Thought
Prophecy continues to unfold as foretold by the Hebrew Prophets. The day is coming when Yahweh will show his strength on the mountains of Israel. What is prophesied will come to pass, what is foretold will be made known. Time is short – Yeshua Ha’Mashiach is coming soon – get busy reaching the lost.
