Many people wrongly assume that the Moedim are Jewish or Israeli feasts, and are no longer relevant today. They could not be more mistaken if they tried – the moedim are Yahweh’s Divine Appointments.
Whose Celebrations Are They?
Exodus 31:13, Leviticus 23:14-31, etc. – “You are to observe my Shabbats; for this is a sign so that you will know that I am Yahweh, who sets you apart for me.”
Leviticus 23:1-2 – “Yahweh’s moedim are holy convocations– they are his divine appointments . . .”
Numbers 10:10 – “On your days of rejoicing, at your designated times and on Rosh-Chodesh, you are to sound the trumpets over your burnt offerings and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; these will be your reminder before your Elohim. I am Yahweh your Elohim.”
Commandment Four: ד “Remember the Shabbat, to set it apart as holy for Yahweh.”
Colossians 2:16-17 – “Feast days . New Moons. . and Shabbats “are a shadow of the things to come”
Many people wrongly assume that the seven moedim (Pesach, Chag Ha’Matzah, Reishit Katzir, Shavuot, Yom Teruah, Yom Kippurim, and Sukkot) are Jewish or Israeli feasts, and are no longer relevant today. The Bible says the moedim are Yahweh’s, not Judah’s, not Yitzhak’s, not Abraham’s, not Benjamin’s!
The Shabbats are Yahweh’s Divine Appointments. The Bible also calls the moedim Shabbats, and Yahweh commands us to keep Shabbats holy, i.e. set apart. Yahweh says in effect: “Spend quality time with me. Let’s meet together every Shabbat and get to know each other more intimately.” And that doesn’t just apply to the seventh day Shabbat – but to ALL the Shabbats!
Paul also affirms that the moedim and Shabbats are a shadow of the reality to come, in other words, dress rehearsals. For centuries the Jews have celebrated Yahweh’s moedim in anticipation of the real event. Four of those shadow events became reality when they were fulfilled in Yeshua’s first coming. The final three shadow events are yet to be fulfilled and become reality. For these reasons alone we should celebrate them, so let’s look further.
To Whom the Moedim Point
Luke 24:27 – “Then, starting with Moses and all the prophets, Yeshua explained those things that can be found throughout the Older Covenant scriptures concerning himself.”
The moedim commemorate specific occasions when Yahweh, in his supernatural power, has already intervened for his people in the past, or when he will intervene again in the future.
But even more-so, the moedim, also known as “appointed days or assemblies” prophetically point specifically to Yeshua Ha’Mashiach and are the inheritance of every single one of his true followers. Remember, Yeshua is the Firstfruits. Yeshua is the Sacrifice, the ultimate and perfect Passover Lamb. Yeshua is our Shabbat and our Sabbath Rest. Yeshua died for everyone, not just the Jews or Israelis!
When Yahweh’s divine appointments, the moedim, are celebrated they are, as Paul describes in Colossians 2:16-17, dress rehearsals pointing to the day and hour on Yahweh’s Daytimer when he will fulfill their prophetic significance. And all of Yeshua’s true followers should be diligent in attending the dress rehearsals – this is how you get ready and are prepared for His second coming. Miss the rehearsal, don’t expect to be part of the Wedding Ceremony when the Moed is fulfilled.
Knowing the Times and Seasons
Jeremiah 8:7 – “Birds know their seasons; they know their migration times; but most Christians do not! [A Paraphrase]
Every sports fan knows the day, hour, teams, and expected winner of the game, and many who profess to be Christians will gladly skip “church” to attend those sports events. But heaven forbid that they should attend the dress rehearsals that Yahweh has commanded them to rehearse.
Yeshua was especially upset with the religious leaders and people of his day for their failure to discern the signs of the times (Matthew 16:3, Luke 12:56). Yeshua wept over Jerusalem for their failure to recognize the time of their visitation (Luke 19:41-44). Do you really think he won’t be upset with today’s religious leaders and people who don’t even bother to learn about, much less, attend his dress rehearsals, the moedim? Yeshua will undoubtedly be upset with them and will come as a thief in the night (Revelation 3:1-3). Even more worrisome, Yahweh respects those who respect him, but those who despise him he will meet with contempt” (1 Samuel 2:30).
Conclusions
Leviticus 23:1-3 – “The Moedim of Yahweh are my designated times, my divine appointments.”
The seven moedim (Pesach, Chag Ha’Matzah, Reishit Katzir, Shavuot, Yom Teruah, Yom Kippurim, and Sukkot) are not just Jewish or Israeli feasts. The Bible says the moedim are Yahweh’s, not Judah’s, not Yitzhak’s, not Abraham’s, not Benjamin’s!
Each Moed is a Shabbat to Yahweh, a time for Yahweh to meet with his worshippers. We are commanded to observe the Shabbats (Exodus 31:13, Leviticus 23:14-31, etc.).
Those who continue to fail to wake up and observe the moedim, who believe that they are no longer relevant today, are in for a big surprise. Yeshua will come like a thief in the night (Revelation 3:1-3) and will more than likely meet them with contempt (1 Samuel 2:30). Ouch.
Final Thought for 2025
• Prophecy continues to unfold as foretold by the Hebrew prophets. History is moving extremely quickly towards the prophesied one world government, the one world financial system, and the rise of both the Antichrist and the False Prophet.
• The escalation of wars and rumors of wars continues to unfold, both in the Middle East and around the globe.
• Time is incredibly short – The birth pangs are just over the horizon.
• The great day of Yahweh is getting really near, even at the door. It hastens forth and will not delay.
• Be sure you are believing The Truth, not The Lie, and maintain an attitude of thanksgiving.
• Be sure Yeshua is your Redeemer, King, and High Priest, and your sins are forgiven.
