And for those who prefer to Read:

Matthew 6:30 – “So don’t be anxious, asking, What will we eat? or, What will we drink? or, How will we be clothed?”
Luke 12:22 – “Don’t worry about your life – what you will eat or drink; or about your body – what you will wear.”

The Angst
The imminent return of Yeshua is one of the major discussions impacting the people of the world today. One of the greatest areas of angst in regards to the Witnessed Resurrection and Rapture is the concern over what a person will be wearing at that time, and one of the most common questions asked by those who comment when an article or especially a video is posted, is spoken with various emphases: “WHAT will I wear?, What WILL I wear?, What will I wear?, or what will I WEAR?”

People want to know: Will I be raptured butt nekked?, as proposed by the instant disappearance scenario outlined in the Left Behind stories, a paradigm I find unsupported by the Biblical Scriptures. One might as well ask: “Will I be wearing a yellow polka dot bikini? Will I be wearing a white robe? Fer cryin’ out loud, what clothing will I wear?”

Scripture tells us not to worry – if Yahweh knows how to clothe the flowers, he knows how to clothe a person (Matthew 6:28-33. Luke 12:27-31). Scripture tells us not to worry about what we will wear.

That being said, let’s take a look at some of the possible answers to that pointless concern:

Origin Of The Clothing
The most prevalent question asked is whether the origin of the clothing will be of heavenly or of earthly manufacture, as 1st Corinthians 15:50 says flesh and blood cannot share in the Kingdom of God, nor can anything perishable. From this verse people conclude that whatever clothing we have cannot be clothing manufactured here on earth. But is this a reasonable conclusion or assumption? I say not in the least.

Scripture gives us no answer definitive answer, but does give us a pattern – the Hebrew slaves coming out of Egypt wore the same clothes and shoes for forty years and those items did not perish or wear out (Deuteronomy 8:4 and 29:5; Nehemiah 9:21). How stupid to think Yahweh cannot take earthly clothes and make them just as incorruptible as the bodies of the humans he resurrects. But think on this: No matter where our clothes are manufactured, they will still have to be washed every so often, smile!

Clothed, Dressed, or Wrapped in Linen
Ezekiel 9:2, 9:3, 9:11; 10:2, 10:6 – “Among them was a man clothed in linen . . . .”
Daniel 10:5, 12:6, 12:7 – “Before me was a man dressed in linen wearing . . .”
Matthew 27:59 – “Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen sheet . . .”
Both Ezekiel and Daniel speak of the man clothed in linen. Daniel 12:6 tells us that the man dressed in linen was above the water of the river. The only man who according to scripture able to stand above the water, without sinking, is Yeshua (Matthew 14:25-26).

When Yeshua was taken down from the cross and laid in a tomb, he was wrapped in a linen shroud provided by Joseph of Arimathea (Matthew 27:59; Mark 15:46; Luke 23:53).

Perhaps Egyptian Linen?
When Yeshua was taken down from the cross and laid in a tomb, he was wrapped in a linen shroud provided by Joseph of Arimathea (Matthew 27:59; Mark 15:46; Luke 23:53). Shrouds in Yeshua’s day were almost exclusively made of Egyptian linen. Perhaps our new clothes will also be the same. Just a thought, smile.

Origin of the Linen
Genesis 1:12 – “The earth brought forth grass, plants each yielding its own kind of seed, and trees each producing its own kind of seed-bearing fruit; and God saw that it was good.”
Linen, translated from the Hebrew word shesh [שֵׁשׁ H8336], is primarily made from flax (Linum Usitatissimum), but can also be made from silk. Shesh is an Egyptian loanword that describes the fine linen robes that Egyptian royalty wore. Whether the linen clothes people will wear upon resurrection will be manufactured from flax grown in Egypt, in another earthly location, or from flax grown in heaven should be of no concern. Flax, no matter where grown, is FLAX, and it is good stuff!!! Enough of the angst, for cryin’ out loud.

Armor of Yahweh Clothing
Exodus 19:6 – “You will be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.”
Ephesians 6:11 – “Clothe yourselves with the full armor of Yahweh.”
Hmmm . . . We are to be a kingdom of priests. Soooooo, what exactly do the priests wear? Oh yeah, the full armor of Yahweh! In other words, . . .
• We are to wear the breastplate of the High Priest (Isaiah 59:17) and to be girded about with Yeshua who is our righteousness (Isaiah 11:5) and who is the faithful one (Isaiah 25:1). [See also Deuteronomy 7:9, Psalm 71:22, etc.].
• We are to be messengers – swift of feet – who are bringing the gospel of peace (Isaiah 52:7).
• We are to yield the shield of faith – 2 Samuel 22:3, Psalms 18:30, 59:11, 84:11, and 115:11 describe Yahweh as a “shield to all who take shelter in him.”
• We are to wear the helmet of salvation. The original Hebrew of Isaiah 59:17 literally reads “His desire to Yeshua is a helmet upon his head.”
• Scripture admonishes us to pray at all times and in all ways which is another way of saying take up the Sword of the Spirit and/or the Word of Yahweh. [See also 1 Thessalonians 5:8 and Revelation 2:16]

The description of the Whole Armor of Yahweh is about the clothing of the High Priest, not Roman soldier gear. Does this mean that the resurrected and raptured people will be wearing the High Priestly garments? I think not.

Hold Your Horses
The clothing of the High Priest is reserved for the High Priest. The only person wearing High Priestly garments will be Yeshua! However, the resurrected and raptured people ruling with Yeshua will likely be clothed in garments similar to those of a Levitical priest.

Citizens of Heaven Clothing
Revelation 4:4 – “Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and on the thrones sat twenty-four elders dressed in white clothing and wearing gold crowns on their heads.”
Revelation 7:9 – “Before me was a huge crowd . . . standing in front of the throne and in front of the Lamb, dressed in white robes . . .”
Revelation 19:14 – “The armies of heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses.”
The clothing of heaven’s elders, crowds, and even the armies is white without any doubts. Perhaps the clothing of the elders as the white robes of the crowds is also fine linen, just like the clothing of the armies. Can we conjecture fine, Egyptian linen – Just a speculation, smile.

Other Clothing
1 Corinthians 15:53 – “For this material which can decay must be clothed with imperishability, this which is mortal must be clothed with immortality.”
Colossians 3:12 – “Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with a heart of mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience . . .”
Corinthians and Colossians tells us our clothing must be imperishable, immortal, and imbued with mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. And that kind of “clothing” can be found anywhere people are walking in the gifts of the Spirit!

Conclusions
Of what exact material our new clothing is manufactured, we are not precisely informed by the Scriptures.
• Should we spend a lot of effort worrying about this clothing? Not in the least. Get a grip.
• Will it last forever? The desert clothes lasted forty years. Rapture clothing could last much longer.
• Will it be pure, fine, white Egyptian linen? Perhaps so, perhaps not. It could be linen from Heaven.  Smile.
• Flax is flax (not cotton) no matter where it is grown. It will be pure, fine, and white – perfect for heavenly wear.
• The clothing may be similar to the garments of a Levitical priest, but not those of the High Priest. The High Priestly garments are reserved for Yeshua to wear.
• Scripture does not indicate that either Elijah or Yeshua ascended naked. Both apparently were fully clothed. We will be too!

Whatever our new clothing will be made of, one can rest assured Yahweh knows how to clothe each person perfectly. Stop worrying – enough angst already.
