Listen And Obey Yahweh’s Word (rather than man’s interpretations)
His Word According to the Scriptures
Exodus 6:22-27 – The Aaronic Blessing
Yahweh said to Moshe, “Speak to Aharon and his sons, and tell them that this is how you are to bless the people of Isra’el: you are to say to them,
‘Y’varekh’kha Yahweh v’yishmerekha.
Ya’er Yahweh panav eleikha vichunekka.
Yissa Yahweh panav eleikha v’yasem l’kha shalom’.”
“In this way they are to put my name on the people of Isra’el, so that I will bless them.”
Deuteronomy 6:4 – The Shâma‛
שָׁמַע יִשׂראֵל יְהוָה אֱלֹהִים ‘ יְהוָה אֶחָד
is one Yahweh Elohim Yahweh Israel Listen
(Listen Israel, Yahweh Elohim, Yahweh is one)
Shâma‛ [H8085 שָׁמַע] Yisra’el [H3478 יִשׂרָ•אֵל]; Yahweh [H3068 יְהוָה] ‘elohiym [H430 אֱלֹהִים], Yahweh [H3068 יְהוָה] ‘echad [H259 אֶחָד]
As Pronounced by Most Jewish People
“Sh’ma, Yisra’el! ADONAI Eloheinu, ADONAI echad.”
As Translated in Most English Bibles:
“Listen, Israel: The LORD is our God, the LORD is one.”
The Meaning of Shâma‛
The word Shâma‛means: to hear with attention, to listen to, to yield to, to obey, to be obedient. In other words, “Listen intently to what I am telling you – pay intention, then do what you have been intructed to do – obey without delay”!! Or as the old folks would say to us young’un: “Shut yer mouth, open yer ears, then do as yer told!”
And what had Yahweh instructed Moshe to do? To place his name upon the people – to bless the people in his name! Did you catch that?: to place his NAME upon the people, not one of his TITLES.
Using Titles Instead of His Name
As we noted above, most Jewish people say “Sh’ma, Yisra’el! ADONAI Eloheinu, ADONAI echad.” They replace his name with a title! So, we must ask:
Where is the word Adonai [H136 אֲדֹנָי] in the Shâma‛?
Adonai, does NOT exist in the shâma‛! I repeat, does not exist in the shâma‛! So why, then do so many people, especially those who are Yhudiyahim or Yisra’elim, replace the Yud Hey Waw Hey with the Aleph Dalet Nun Yud?
It all has to do with their failure to place his NAME (Yud Hey Waw Hey [Yahweh]) upon his people as commanded by his word, instead following the teachings of the Talmudicic literature, (Mishnah, Gemara) and other rabbinical writings.
Instead of using his NAME, the rabbis and Jewish people place one of his TITLES upon the people for fear of taking his name in vain, which they believe is mispronouncing his name, the Yud Hey Waw Hey, according to their man-made writings.
Profaning His Name
The Levites were commanded not to profane his name and to be set apart as holy:
Leviticus 22:2 – “Tell Aharon and his sons to separate themselves from the holy things of the people of Isra’el which they set apart as holy for me, so that they will not profane my holy name; I am Yahweh.”
Leviticus 22:32 “You are not to profane my holy name; on the contrary, I am to be regarded as holy among the people of Isra’el; I am Yahweh, who makes you holy.”
The Wedding Ceremony at Mt Sinai and the Ketubah
Likewise, the people at Mt Sinai were also commanded not to profane his name:
Exodus 20:7 – “You shall not take the name of Yahweh your God in vain, for Yahweh will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.”
Not only did they fail to keep his name holy, not only did they fail to understand that taking his name in vain is not about pronunciation, but they also failed to understand that it is all about becoming his bride and not doing so in a flippant, frivolous manner – rather in a serious, solemn, thoughtful manner. Failing in these understandings they profane his name every time they replace it with a title.
And to top it off, by these failures they have steadfastly profaned his name in every nation into which they have been dispersed! This is affirmed by the following scriptures:
Ezekiel 36:20 – When they came to the nations they were going to, they profaned my holy name; so that people said of them, ‘These are Yahweh’s people, who have been exiled from his land.’
Ezekiel 36:23 – I will set apart my great name to be regarded as holy, since it has been profaned in the nations — you profaned it among them. The nations will know that I am Yahweh,’ says Adonai Yahweh, ‘when, before their eyes, I am set apart through you to be regarded as holy.
Ezekiel 39:7 – I will make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; I will not let my holy name be profaned anymore. Then the nations will know that I am Yahweh, the Holy One of Israel.
Yahweh יְהוָה is Yeshua יְשׁוּעָה
Isaiah 12:2 – Look, ‘el (H410 אֵל) is my yshuw`ah (H3444 יְשׁוּעָה), I am confident and do not fear; for Yah (H3050 יָהּ) Yahweh (H3068 יְהוָה) is my strength and my protection, and he has become my yshuw`ah (H3444 יְשׁוּעָה).
As Translated in Most English Bibles:
“See! God is my salvation. I am confident and unafraid; for Yahweh is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation!”
More verses stating Yahweh is Yeshua
Exodus 15:2 – “Yah is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation. This is my God: I will glorify him; my father’s God: I will exalt him.”
Psalm 118:14 – “Yah is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.”
Psalm 118:21 – “I thank you that you have answered me and have become my salvation.”
Yahweh Doesn’t Change
Yahweh of the older covenant is now Yeshua of the newer covenant. And once again, we are commanded to honor his name and to use his name, not a title:
Matthew 6:9, Luke 11:2 – When you pray, say: Father, may your name be honored; may your kingdom come.
James 5:14 – They should pray for him and anoint him with oil in the name of Yahweh.
1 Timothy 6:1 – Let all who are under a yoke as bondservants regard their own masters as worthy of all honor, so that the name of God and the teaching may not be profaned.
Conclusions
• The Aaronic Blessing gives detailed instructions on how to keep Yahweh’s name holy.
• The Shâma‛ commands that one listen and obey his word.
• Profaning Yahweh’s name is not about how one pronounces the Yud Hey Waw Hey.
• It is all about taking his name and becoming his Bride in a respectful, diligent, purposeful manner.
• Yahweh does not change. In both older and new covenants, one is to honor and bless in his Name, not in one of this titles.
