Every year we celebrate New Year’s Day with parades, fireworks, drunkenness, debauchery, and other works of the flesh. But modern parades and celebrations can’t even come close to the celebratory parade in Heaven upon Yeshua’s victory over Ha’Satan. We read about this celebration in Colossians 2:15.

Colossians 2:15– “Having spoiled principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.”

Apekduomai (ἀπεκδύομαι) is the Greek word that describes a complete spoiling, stripping, or disarming of an enemy, often leaving them naught but their birthday suits. In other words, the enemy soldier was left standing stark naked. Apekduomai was a complete plundering of the enemy’s possessions, lands, armor, treasures, trophies, weaponry, subjects and captives. Nothing was left for the enemy to gather together; nothing with which he might retaliate.
Deigmatizō (δειγματίζω) is the Greek word used to denote the display of captives, weaponry, and trophies that were seized during war on foreign soil. Every item displayed was exposed to all to view and enjoy. This display was not done in private –it was done in public, open to all. This display also was designed to commemorate the victor and to humiliate the defeated enemy.
Parrēsia (παρρησία) is the Greek word that was used of an openly, blatantly, publicly performed parade. It was a momentous, loud, full on celebration that was celebrated by both emperor and subjects. By using parrēsia in conjunction with deigmatizō, Paul doubly emphasizes the extent of the public display. This was no quiet celebration, attended by just a couple of the emperor’s closest friends! Oh, no, not at all – this was a well attended affair celebrated by the entire nation of people.
Thriambeuō (θριαμβεύω) is the Greek word that specifically means a triumphal parade. This parade celebrated the returning emperor’s, king’s, or general’s triumph, bringing the conquered enemy king, beaten and bound in chains, to be paraded before the people. This word, thriambeuō, is used twice in a row, indicating an exceptionally strong triumphal parade!! Again, this was no quiet, private celebration.
The Interpretation
Because Paul uses apekduomai, deigmatizō, parrēsia, and thriambeuō, Colossians 2:15 can be written as follows:
“Yeshua completely stripped the principalities and powers and left them utterly naked, then gallantly strode into Heaven in an exceptionally triumphal parade to celebrate His victory and the defeat of Ha’Satan and his forces. As part of His triumphal parade, He publicly exposed and displayed the spoils seized from Ha’Satan; nothing was left to Ha’Satan’s disposal with which to retaliate. Yet the greatest spectacle of all occurred when the enemy himself was openly put on display as bound, disgraced, disabled, defeated, humiliated, and stripped bare.”
The Results
Ephesians 4:8 – “When he ascended on high, He led captivity captive.”
2 Corinthians 2:14 – “But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph . . .”
The word thriambeuō is also used to describe victory in Christ. In Colossians 2:15 it is Ha’Satan and his demons that are marched in front of the heavenly hosts. The above two passages say that those who trust Yeshua for salvation are the captives who He proudly displays as being His conquered possessions. Those who trust in Yeshua as their Lord are marched in front of all the angels in His triumphal parade. Those who trust in Yeshua are the spoils of war that are put on display, but in triumph, not in defeat.

The Conclusion
Luke 15:10 – “In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
Heaven celebrates every single time a sinner repents. Heaven celebrated with a triumphal parade when Yeshua won the victory over sin, hell, the devil, and death. Just imagine how great the parade and celebration will be when Yeshua raptures His entire Bride and brings them home to His Father’s house in Heaven!!
Yeshua’s victory over Ha’Satan was fully, openly, and loudly celebrated in Heaven. This was no quiet, private celebration between the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. All of Heaven was involved, giving praise for His victory. Ha’Satan has been fully stripped and no longer has any authority over all who accept Yeshua as their Lord.
Prophecy continues to unfold as foretold by the Hebrew prophets. The stage is being set. Each day is one day closer to our Lord’s return. Yeshua Ha’Mashiach is coming soon. Get busy reaching the lost.
